Kaj so povedali o Tadeji
About the show
The theater - dance multimedia performance Why Me is a performance that touches on multiple sclerosis through excerpts from life through the eyes of Tadeja Polanšček, who is fighting this disease. In the foreground is the figure of a woman who is a mother, daughter, friend, wife, but at the same time a prisoner of the disease. Her desire for a "normal" life is extraordinary, she wants to live for her two children, for her husband, and above all for HERSELF!
She hates the disease and at the same time accepts it as a fact. Sometimes she feels trapped and would like to scream out all her pain, anger and helplessness into space, into the air, anywhere... She understands that the disease is a part of her, her body, that it is entangled in all the bonds of her life, but with her defiance and courage she tries drive away everything associated with it.
"You will be my waltz,
my ballet plie
my choreography
and my play.'
(Katja Vidmar, excerpt from the play Why Me)
The topic that spoke to me this time is the story of my friend, the story of many women and men with this disease... it is a story that I also dance for their families and is a tribute to Tadeja. Exploring the feelings of not being able to use legs and/or arms has been one of the most difficult choreographic tasks for me so far, and the creation of the performance therefore has a great emotional charge. Articles, conversations about multiple sclerosis and awareness of how vulnerable we are are the reasons why we want to help the Let's Know Multiple Sclerosis association with the performance Why Me with the proceeds from the sold tickets.
How to create motionless movement with a body that can move? How to dance in a duet with someone who is bubbling with life and at the same time someone who is screaming in pain? How to tell a story that only speech can carry/cut into silence because the body is numb? Through dance (and through projection and speech) in her own, different, sensual way, which is hers and mine.

The team
Supporters
They are people who stand by us and support us on our creative journey.
They are special, just as our cooperation is special.
That is why we are especially grateful to them!
Humanitarian cause
Katja Dance Company has written in its three fundamental articles of operation that I allocate funds from the sale of tickets to humanitarian purposes. Thus, proceeds from the sale of tickets for this performance are donated to the Let's Know Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Vision
The association was founded with the aim of cooperating with experts in the field of multiple sclerosis, raising awareness among the general public about multiple sclerosis and their relatives, and cooperating with other associations and humanitarian organizations.
Why?
There are currently 2,500 people with multiple sclerosis in Slovenia. Multiple sclerosis mainly affects people between the ages of twenty and forty, i.e. during the period of a person's greatest creativity. The disease affects all areas of human activity and limits motor, cognitive and processing skills.
Purpose
The Let's Know Multiple Sclerosis Society stands for values such as health, compassion, humanity, courage, frankness, democracy, honesty, responsibility, justice and human rights, and within them especially for the rights of patients.
