Art Creates a Space for Making a Decision About Organ Donation
Katja Dance Company and DanceArt.si, in collaboration with the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Organ and Tissue Transplantation, Slovenia-transplant, and the Slovenian Transplant Association, proudly present the new charity multimedia dance-theatre production DECIDE, an artistic project that addresses one of the most important issues of modern society: conversation and decision-making about organ and tissue donation after death.
Created under the artistic direction of choreographer Katja Vidmar and co-choreographer Mitja Popovski, the production explores questions of mortality, loss, hope, compassion, solidarity, and the extraordinary power of giving life to others through contemporary dance, music, film elements, and visual storytelling.
Developed in close collaboration with experts in transplant medicine, the project is inspired by real stories of organ donors, transplant recipients, and their families.
Art as a Bridge to Understanding
The performance does not seek to persuade or impose decisions. Instead, it creates a space for reflection and dialogue.
In partnership with Slovenia-transplant and the Slovenian Transplant Association, the audience is invited to consider several important questions:
What do we know about organ donation?
Have we discussed it with our loved ones?
Do they know our wishes?
Have we already made our own decision?
At a time when conversations about mortality and death are often avoided, the production encourages an honest dialogue about life, responsibility, and human interconnectedness.
Real Stories That Inspire
A significant part of the performance is dedicated to the story of Urban Prevc, a fourteen-year-old organ donor who tragically lost his life. His wish to become an organ donor helped save several lives in different European countries.
The production continues what has become known as “Urban’s Legacy”, highlighting the fact that a single decision can offer a new chance at life to many people.
A Humanitarian Mission
For nine years, Katja Dance Company has been creating socially engaged projects that combine art and charity.
DECIDE remains faithful to this mission. After production costs have been covered, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Slovenian Transplant Association to support its humanitarian activities and transplant recipients.

DECIDE is more than a performance.
It is an invitation to reflect, to talk, and to make a decision.
It is a story about life, loss, hope, and humanity.
It is a reminder that one decision can mean life for someone else. ❤️
